The Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. holiday is spent by many in service and celebration of a distinguished leader. For the past several years, riders of dirt bikes and ATVs have illegally taken to South Florida roadways on this day. The Broward Sheriff’s Office and its partners want to discourage this activity and ensure that the day remains safe for all.
On Wednesday, BSO will host a joint news conference with several law enforcement agencies to detail traffic safety and enforcement measures that address the unlawful ATV/dirt bike rideouts that unfold during the national day of observance.
PARTICIPATING AGENCIES: Broward Sheriff’s Office, Coral Springs Police Department, Coconut Creek, Davie Police Department, Florida Highway Patrol, Fort Lauderdale Police Department, Hallandale Beach Police Department, Hillsboro Beach Police Department, Hollywood Police Department, Lauderhill Police Department, Lighthouse Point Police Department, Miramar Police Department, Miami Gardens Police Department, Pembroke Pines Police Department, Plantation Police Department, Sunrise Police Department and Wilton Manors Police Department.
WHEN: 10 a.m., Wednesday, Jan. 12, 2022
WHERE: In front of BSO’s Public Safety Building, 2601 W. Broward Blvd., Fort Lauderdale
