Description of Incident:

Just eight days after a Canadian couple was found dead in Pompano Beach on March 22, Broward Sheriff’s Office detectives responded to another violent encounter involving an elderly male victim robbed at an ATM.  Now, thanks to forensic evidence, witness accounts and tenacious detective work, investigators know the same man committed both crimes.
Quinton Johnson, 28, was arrested on April 1, two days after shooting and robbing Dennis Moton, 67, outside a Bank of America in Pompano Beach.  Meanwhile, BSO homicide detectives continued processing the gruesome murder scene in the same city, canvassing the neighborhood for clues that could help solve their crime.
On April 11, homicide investigators got the clue they were hoping for when they obtained information pointing to Johnson as a possible suspect.  He was already sitting in jail.
Detectives continued their investigation until they received confirmation from the BSO Crime Lab that forensic evidence placed Johnson at the murder scene. On May 14, they obtained a warrant for his arrest for the murder of Marc and Rita Gagne.
Johnson remains at the BSO Main Jail.  He has a long criminal history of occupied burglaries and grand theft and had been released from prison in February 2019, after serving a seven-year sentence.
Anyone with information about the case is asked to contact BSO Homicide Detective Barbara Dyer at 954-321-4262.  If you wish to remain anonymous, contact Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS (8477) or online at www.browardcrimestoppers.org.
